Classroom discussion ( focus group )
When we pitched our very brief idea to the class we generally stated we was going to create a campaign advert all about general stereotypes , we said we was going to make it inclusive for everybody for example all different backgrounds and ethnicities in one video in the focus group we said that we was going to have them put up signs individually one by one and then rip them in half on camera , after pitching our smashing stereotypes idea we then got feedback back from majority of the classroom asking questions such as " how is your idea going to stand out due to the fact this has been done many times before " my response to this was we were going to add a twist to the advert we wasn't trying to give too much away that day , because we wanted to keep it a secret until the actual video came out . In my opinion the video would be different because we would of added different components to make versatile.
What I have learned from this focus group is to most definitely plan a head of time to make sure when you do pitch an idea you have all the answers to the questions they could potential ask , as a group we defiantly could of planned this pitch way better so in future when it comes to production we shouldn't rush anything for example in the video I said we may potential have real life people that people stereotype against , whereas instead of making our jobs harder by getting real life people , we could use actors because in all honesty , no one would be able to tell the difference because they don't know the people on camera personally . By taking on the feed back from the classroom it made me take into consideration what my group needs to work on which is what are we going produce from this point what planning action can be done to make this project a success .
Questions that were asked after our pitch
1. How is your idea going to stand out from similar adverts ?
2. How are you going to make your idea different ?
3. Have you thought about the actors for this advert ?
4. Don't you think your idea is too predictable /
5. How many people are you trying to include in this advert?
6. what type of advert is it ?
7. Where are you going to be finding the people for this advert ?
8. Do you feel like your audience will get the message ?
9. Do you think your idea is too ambitious ?
10 . will you be using actors or real life people /
All responses to these questions are included in the video . from doing this focus group our next steps are to plan for example create a shot lists , storyboard , Reece . release forms ( permission to film ) and any other type of pre production work and most importantly to create a casting call sheet for who we are going to actually cast to be in this advert , then once pre production is finished we would then potential move to production work were we would discuss where we are going to film preferably the Tv studio , then we would try to produce what we spoke about in the focus group . The notes we have gathered from doing this focus group is that we need to put a lot more thought into this project before we take any dramatic steps in terms of actually filming anything , for me I want to stick with the general plan to do what we pitched but the idea may gradually develop a long the way because we could come up with an even better idea . All these questions are quite valid and taken into consideration it really got us thinking about what we really want in this advert and how its going to look overall .
